As Sebastian gears up for the Independence Day celebrations, AAA is rolling out an essential safety initiative aimed at keeping the roads safe from impaired drivers.
The automotive service provider is prepared to assist drivers experiencing car troubles across the country this week. In addition, AAA is activating its “Tow to Go” program in select states, providing a vital service to prevent impaired driving incidents.
The Tow to Go program, a program for over 25 years, is designed to offer a safe ride to drivers who might otherwise drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications.
“By providing this program, AAA gives drivers no excuse for driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or impairing medications,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA.
“Please plan ahead by asking a friend to be your designated driver or use a ride-sharing service. If those plans fall through, you can call Tow to Go and AAA will arrange for a safe ride for you,” Jenkins added.
Program Details
The service will be available from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd until 6 a.m. on Monday, July 8th.
Nationally, the Tow to Go service covers multiple states, including Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
The service is free for both AAA members and non-members. It provides a confidential ride to a safe location within a 10-mile radius, with the tow truck transporting the vehicle and its driver. This safety net service operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and appointments cannot be scheduled in advance.
AAA emphasizes the importance of planning ahead and choosing a designated driver before partaking in celebrations. In cases where other arrangements fail, Tow to Go stands as a reliable backup. However, it is important to note that the service may not be available in rural areas or during severe weather conditions.
