The Sebastian City Council approved the design and purchase of two electronic marquee signs to replace the existing signage at Riverview Park and City Hall.
West Central Signs, Inc. was awarded the contract to construct and install the signs in the amount of $58,682.
City Manager Paul Carlisle said the new signs would allow them to get information out to the public at a moment’s notice since they can be updated remotely.
“It’s going to be a better modern way to get information out,” Carlisle said.
The new signs were on display at City Hall prior to the City Council meeting on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
Mayor Ed Dodd said he liked what he saw. Councilman Fred Jones, Bob McPartlan, and Chris Nunn all shared Dodd’s opinion about the signs.
“I looked at it before the meeting, and I like it. I think the public will be able to view that, and it will be very simple to change electronically,” Fred Jones said.
The council voted unanimously for the signs, citing that it’s hard to read the old signs they have now. They like that they will be able to get the information out immediately since it’s electronic.
