The Taxpayers Association of Indian River County has announced the upcoming Sheriff Debate, scheduled for June 17th, 2024, at the Indian River Charter High School located at 6055 College Ln, Vero Beach, FL 32966.
Doors will open at 5:00 PM with the event starting promptly at 5:30 PM. This community event aims to provide a platform for the sheriff candidates to present their policies and engage with public concerns.
The debate is organized into three parts, beginning with opening statements and questions from the Taxpayers Association. Following this, key stakeholders such as the Law Enforcement Deputies Union and the School District of Indian River County will pose their queries.
The evening will conclude with public-submitted questions and closing statements from the candidates.
Attendees are asked to enter through the northeast entrance of the Charter High School Auditorium. After the opening statements at approximately 5:40 PM, latecomers are instructed to use the south entrance.
Audience members are reminded to turn off all electronic devices during the debate to maintain decorum and allow candidates to utilize their speaking time fully.
The event will not offer food services; however, the schedule from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM allows attendees the flexibility to dine before or after the proceedings. A brief entrance ceremony will include the national anthem, a pledge of allegiance, and an invocation, requiring attendees to stand.
The Taxpayers Association plans to livestream the event on its Facebook page, encouraging those unable to attend to watch online.
Community members wishing to contribute questions for the debate are encouraged to submit them via email to the Taxpayers Association with the subject line “Sheriff Debate Question.” A selection of these questions will be presented to the candidates during the debate.
The event promises to be a pivotal moment in the local electoral season, providing voters a direct line to those vying for one of the most crucial roles in county law enforcement.
