Libraries around the country celebrated National Library Week April 23-29, 2023. Libraries have long served as trusted institutions for all members of our community, and Indian River County has a thriving program with three libraries around the County, each with its own robust calendar of activities and variety of resources.
The BOCC recognizes the critical role libraries play in the economic vitality of communities by providing internet and technological access, literacy skills, and support for job seekers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. Of course, libraries are also safe and welcoming environments for families to gather, study and even play together.
Planning for the community’s ever-changing needs is just one element of maintaining a dynamic library system throughout the County, and there is good news.
North County Library is Growing
The construction of a new 2,800 sq. ft., single-story addition to the North Indian River County Library is reaching its completion.
Public Works Engineering, in coordination with the General Services Library Division, developed the vision for this expansion to the existing facility, which will include two (2) small conference rooms and the expansion of the existing parking lot.
Public Works Engineering worked with MB Engineering and Donadio & Associates Architect, P.., through the design and construction of the project. Proctor Construction Company is the Contractor performing the construction.
