Sebastian River Medical Center to become Orlando Health

Orlando Health will officially take ownership of Sebastian River Medical Center on Thursday, October 24th, 2024. This acquisition is part of a $439.42 million deal with Steward Health Care, approved by a bankruptcy judge last month.

The deal also includes two other hospitals and related physician practices along Florida’s east central coast.

Effective this week, the hospitals will be rebranded as Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital, Orlando Health Rockledge Hospital, and Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital.

Orlando Health is hosting welcome receptions at each hospital for new employees to meet Orlando Health staff.

Steward, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May, announced the selection of Orlando Health as the successful bidder for its Florida hospitals on August 29th.

This acquisition marks a significant milestone for Orlando Health as the company continues to expand its healthcare services across Florida.
