Piper Aircraft, Inc. is proud to announce the type certification of its latest marvel, the Piper M700 FURY, by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as of February 29, 2024. This landmark achievement marks a significant milestone for Piper Aircraft, following the aircraft’s initial announcement on February 6, 2024. The company is excited to confirm that customer deliveries of the M700 FURY will commence immediately.
Type certification confirms the FAA’s approval of the aircraft’s design, including all component parts such as propellers, engines, control stations, and more, ensuring the M700 FURY meets the highest standards of safety and performance.
The M700 FURY stands out as the fastest single-engine aircraft in Piper’s illustrious 87+ year history, boasting a maximum cruise speed of 301 knots and a maximum range of 1,424 nautical miles. This cabin-class turboprop is powered by Pratt & Whitney’s PT6A-52 engine, generating an impressive 700 shaft horsepower. It also features the latest version of Garmin’s G3000 cockpit, incorporating Garmin’s Emergency Autoland as part of Piper’s HALO safety system.
Key performance highlights of the M700 FURY include:
- Take-off Performance: The aircraft achieves a take-off landing distance over a 50 ft. obstacle at sea level, standard day max gross takeoff weight (MGTOW), of a class-leading 1,994 ft., significantly outperforming its predecessor, the M600/SLS, and leading single-engine jet competitors.
- Initial Climb and Climb to Altitude: The M700 FURY exhibits a remarkable initial climb rate of 2,048 feet per minute (fpm) and reaches FL250 in just 13.9 minutes, outpacing the M600/SLS in efficiency and speed.
- Cruise and Landing Performance: With a 301-knot max cruise speed and superior landing performance, the M700 FURY continues to set benchmarks in its class.
John Calcagno, President & CEO of Piper Aircraft, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to announce the U.S. certification of the Piper M700 FURY by the FAA just a month after its announcement. The FURY is just the beginning of a new generation in our M-Class product line. Watch this space, as Piper’s M-Class will be expanding both above and below what we currently offer today.”
The company also announced that international validations for Canada (TCCA), Europe (EASA), the UK (CAA), and Brazil (ANAC) are expected to be completed in the second half of 2024, with customer deliveries in those regions anticipated before the year’s end.
