The Recycling Club of Sebastian is offering scholarships to Sebastian River High School graduates. The scholarships are the Cynthia Bohannon Scholarship and the Smith Construction Scholarships. The deadline to nominate or apply for both scholarships is Friday, August 23, 2024.
The Cynthia Bohannon scholarship began in 2015 and has seven recipients to date, and the Smith Construction scholarship began in 2019 and has seven recipients to date.
The Cynthia Bohannon Scholarship
The Cynthia Bohannon Scholarship for $1000 is available for one student who graduated from Sebastian River High School in 2024 and will attend college full-time in Florida in August 2024.
How to nominate & guidelines for the Cynthia Bohannon Scholarship:
- All applications MUST be emailed to the Recycling Club Scholarship Admin at trcnonreply@aol.com (previously awarded applicants need not apply)
- Print or type ALL information – must be legible
- Nominator and Nominee cannot be related – no exceptions
- Nominee must be a Sebastian River High School graduate Class of 2024 and attending a Florida College Full Time August 2024
- The Selected college student will have to provide three (3) current reference (non-related) letters. Please ask people providing references to refrain from referencing financial status in letters.
- Selected college student will email to trcnoreply@aol.com the reference letters (non-related), which must be dated after the student is selected, along with Florida College Name, Financial Aid phone number, and class schedule showing full-time status within ten (10) days. Cynthia
Bohannon’s $1,000 Scholarship funds will be paid to the College for the student to use according to their College rules and regulations.

Smith Construction Scholarships
The Smith Construction Scholarships are $500 for two students who have already attended a Florida College for one full year but no more than three full years, having graduated from Sebastian River High School in 2017 or after.
How students apply for the Smith Construction Scholarships:
- Any graduate from Sebastian River High School 2017 school year and after attending a Florida College full-time (having completed at least one full-time year but no more than three full-time college years) can apply, excluding prior recipients of The Recycling Club Scholarships
- Email the completed application to the Recycling Club Scholarship Admin @trcnonreply@aol.com and include a typed essay that contains why you feel your K-12 education benefited you, how you feel your K-12 education did not benefit you, and what you would change if you could.
- There will be two different College Student recipients for this $500 Smith Construction Scholarship, which will be drawn lottery-style from qualified applications.
- After selections are made, both recipients will be notified via email, and within 10 days of the email date will need to submit to The Recycling Club Scholarship Admin at trcnonreply@aol.com on their Florida college letterhead – attendance status, earned credits broken down by year, financial aide mailing address and phone # along with student ID#
- Once Smith Construction $500 College Scholarship recipients have provided to us at trcnonreply@aol.com the requested information The Recycling Club Scholarship Admin will send $500 Smith Construction Scholarship money to students Florida college financial aid office to be spent according to their college rules and regulations
- Submit one application only.
