During the City of Sebastian’s monthly council meeting, officials gave the approval to annex 1,118 acres on County Road 510 that could bring more than 3,500 more homes to Sebastian, Florida.
The property is zoned for agricultural use under county zoning, but a request by Graves Brothers Company was made for voluntary annexation.
Mayor Jim Hill told Sebastian Daily that the City Council will hold a public hearing on August 28, 2019, before making their final vote.
Hill said the property has a mixture of commercial and residential uses for the city.
Development plans now show about half of the property being used for local homes.
