There are three seats open for the Sebastian City Council 2023 election. This year’s candidates are Damien H. Gilliams, 62; Damien L. “Junior” Gilliams, 31; Fred Jones, 60; Sherrie Matthews, 61; Bob McPartlan, 57; and Christopher Robert Nunn, 53.
Poll Results
Nunn, who has served in the Navy, has played a significant role during the last three years and has played a vital role in bringing stability back to Sebastian following the 2020 recall. He served as Vice Mayor for the last year and recently earned the Gold Excellence award from the Florida League of Cities. With over 25 years as a Sebastian resident, he and his wife have raised their family in the community.
Jones, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who retired after more than 30 years of service with the Florida Highway Patrol, lives the motto “Leading By Example.” Jones also volunteers for various nonprofits, mentoring local youth in Sebastian, and was the mayor during the past year. He and his wife, Carrie, have raised their two children here.
McPartlan’s resume includes a ten-year tenure on the City Council, with past responsibilities as mayor and two decades with the Florida Department of Children and Families as the Community Development Administrator. His stewardship is well-regarded among the City’s taxpayers.
Sebastian Daily would like to congratulate all three, and we look forward to them serving the City of Sebastian.
