People living at Whispering Palms RV Park have reported being without water since last Friday. According to residents, the park’s management has remained silent on the issue.
A resident, who asked to remain unnamed, told Sebastian Daily, “The health situation in Whispering Palms has gotten dire. There has been no water for many parts of the park over the weekend. Other parts have very low pressure.”
We then heard from a representative from Evergreen Communities, the company that manages the Whispering Palms RV Resort.
“Whispering Palms is aware of the emergency water break, we have been working with available contractors to locate and repair the issue, and as of this evening all but a few residents have had their services returned to normal. We have been providing water to all affected residents and have been in touch with them through several methods of communication,” Julio Jaramillo of Evergreen Communities told Sebastian Daily.
Some residents thought the problem was with Indian River County, but we contacted them too. They say the water responsibility is with the park’s management.
“We provide Aspen/Whispering Palms water through master meters and sewer service via two separate lift stations. Indian River County Department of Utility Services has no management responsibility for the infrastructure within the MHP. It is all privately owned and operated. In essence, once the water passes through the master meter, how it is distributed and managed within the MHP is entirely up to the management company/owner of the MHP,” Sean C. Lieske, Director of Indian River County Department of Utility Sevices, told Sebastian Daily.
We also spoke with another resident who alleged that the park’s management only started addressing the water issue on Monday. But as of Tuesday morning, a few trucks and workers arrived at the park.
The park, situated between Schumann Drive and Barber Street, informed residents that they would receive a text alert when water service was restored.
