The City of Sebastian is hosting an Open House at City Hall on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event will allow the community to learn more about what the City offers residents and visitors.
All events will be from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. except the following:

- Centennial Plaque Unveiling: 12:30
- Police K9 Demo: 1 – 1:30
- Sebastian Police Vehicle Display and COPE Unit: 10 – 2
- Fire prevention Display: 10 – 2
- City vehicle Display: 10 – 2
- Stormwater Plan Display: 10 – 2
- Sebastian Museum Tour: 10 – 4
- Stories of Sebastian in the Museum: 10:30 & 2:30
- Natural Resource Board: 10 – 2
Sebastian Police Department & Indian River County Fire Rescue
The Sebastian Police Department will host a Touch-a-Truck session with an armored rescue vehicle, their COPE Unit, Code Enforcement Unit, and patrol unit. The COPE unit will give out popcorn and snow cones, and the K9 Unit will perform a demo at 1:00 p.m.
City vehicles will be set up for those in attendance to explore and Indian River Fire Rescue will also be participating with their fire truck. They will also have a Fire Prevention Display.
“Some vehicles included in the Touch-a-Truck aspect of this event are bulldozers, dump trucks, tractors, fire truck, police cars, a SWAT truck, a bucket truck, a large mower, and a vac truck,” said Avery Joens, Communications and Social Media Coordinator for the City of Sebastian.
Centennial, Sustainable Sebastian & Natural Resources Board
The City of Sebastian’s Centennial, Sustainable Sebastian, Natural Resources Boards, and One Lagoon will all have booths. The Centennial booth will have cupcakes and Centennial swag available. There will also be an unveiling of the Centennial Plaque.
“The Centennial Plaque unveiling will reveal our new centennial year plaque at City Hall,” Joens explained.
Sebastian Historical Museum
The Sebastian Historical Museum will have a scavenger hunt with prizes inside the museum as well as historical storytelling by historian Patrick Morgan throughout the event.
Centennial Art Show
The Art Center will have its Centennial exhibit on display, teacher demos, art sales, and a raffle.
“The Sebastian River Art Club will present the ‘A Look Back in Time’ gallery at the Art Center. This display celebrates the Sebastian Centennial and includes a variety of artwork depicting historical Sebastian,” Joens told Sebastian Daily.
Senior Center
The Senior Center will have a representative from the Senior Resource Association to discuss their senior programs:
- Day Away
- Community Coach
- Public Guardian
- Emergency Alert Systems
“The Senior Center will be open during the Touch & Tour event so that residents can see all it offers! Inside the senior center, a representative from the Senior Resource Association will discuss the available senior programs. There will also be activities such as card games and knitting taking place,” Joens said.
Stormwater Plan Display
The City’s stormwater department will have a both at the event where they can answer any stormwater-related questions citizens may have.
“There will also be a TV playing a variety of videos that discuss our stormwater system, hurricane preparedness, and more! The citizen request team will also be there to answer any questions residents may have about the citizen request process,” Joens told Sebastian Daily.
Food
Food will be available for purchase from multiple vendors.
