In a moving show of solidarity and support, ORC Services, Inc., in collaboration with the Veterans Council of Indian River County, is leading a community-driven initiative to aid a local veteran whose mobile home was destroyed in a fire.
The veteran and his family, already facing significant financial hurdles, encountered further difficulties when the company for the mobile home park demanded the destruction of the fire-damaged home and imposed additional fees.
Adam Ogilvie, owner of ORC Services, has become a pivotal figure in the relief effort. He utilized social media and his extensive network of community-focused business leaders to garner support. His efforts have successfully coordinated the removal of the home and gathered crucial donations from local businesses, nonprofits, and veteran groups.
Despite the persistence of the fire-damaged structure, Indian River County and the State Health Department have issued all required permits and completed pre-demolition inspections.
ORC Services is now collaborating closely with the legal team at Whispering Palms to secure authorization to demolish the home and resolve the veteran’s family’s ongoing legal and financial complications.
They anticipate obtaining the necessary permissions in the upcoming weeks, thereby averting potential fines from the State Health Department, which has set a removal deadline by the end of June.
The response from the Indian River County community has been overwhelmingly positive, reflecting a deep sense of generosity and a strong commitment to supporting one another.
While the efforts to fully resolve this situation are ongoing, the progress made thus far provides hope and tangible assistance to the veteran’s family.
Several local entities have played key roles in this endeavor:
- Reliable Septic and Services is handling the home removal at no cost.
- Indian River County Landfill has waived the associated landfill fees.
- The state of Florida Health Department has forgone the permit fees.
- Ohana Stronger Together, in partnership with the American Legion (Post 189), is providing financial aid and additional fundraising support.
- VFW in Sebastian and American Legion Post 189 are offering both monetary donations and ongoing support.
- Contributions from kind-hearted residents and the Recycle Club of Indian River have been instrumental in supporting the veteran’s family through this crisis.
- Team Success Enterprise continues its support and outreach efforts.
ORC Services remains steadfast in its commitment to resolving the challenges faced by the veteran’s family and continues coordinating with Whispering Palms Property Management and their attorneys to complete this project.
