The Richard Phillips Down Biker Fund will have a Butterfly Release Memorial at Earl’s Hideaway Lounge on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 4:00 pm.
Butterflies can be purchased at Earl’s Hideaway Lounge, the day of the event starting at 2:00 pm, or they can be purchased through Cashapp $downbikerfund. They are $20 per butterfly. The butterfly’s will be distributed 20 minutes prior to the release.
The goal of the Richard Phillips Down Biker Fund, who serves Indian River County & Brevard County, is to help alleviate some of the immediate financial stress associated with the aftermath of a catastrophic motorcycle accident
In April 2017, Robin Phillips created the Richard Phillips Down Biker Fund in remembrance of her husband, Richard Phillips, who tragically lost his life after being hit while out for a ride.
“As motorcycle enthusiasts and riders, we are keenly aware of the obstacles and dangers that we face every time we ride. Every single one of us has known or is someone who has gone down and loved someone who did not get back up,” Phillips told Sebastian Daily.
In 2022, the Richard Phillips Down Biker Fund has given out ninety-two $500 checks to help give the family or rider a little breathing room after their traumatic event.
There has to be a 24-hour hospital stay or a loss of life to receive a check from the foundation. Their goal is to keep raising funds to continue to help as much as possible.
In addition, the Tom Petty Tribute Band, “The Petty Hearts” will perform at 2:00 pm, and Bob Youhas will be playing bagpipes for the butterfly release.
