The 2nd Annual “Firefighters For Clean Water” Offshore Fishing Tournament was held June 16th & 17th at the beautiful Sebastian Saltwater Marina & Restaurant. They had 60 boat entries, with boaters from all over the state to fish and help support Captains for Clean Water.
The Firefighters of Indian River County are committed to safeguarding and restoring our most precious resource—water! The inception of the “Firefighters for Clean Water” Campaign in 2022 aimed to raise awareness about the significance of our Lagoon and local waterways.
This year’s tournament exceeded all expectations with a total prize purse of $13,000, including special awards for junior and lady anglers. The Indian River Firefighters Benevolent Association proudly donated $10,000 to Captains for Clean Water, empowering them to continue their vital work preserving and advocating for our lagoons and waterways on Florida’s East and West Coasts.
Through their relentless efforts, the firefighters have made significant strides, collaborating with state and local legislators who now recognize the paramount importance of our waters here in Florida. The Indian River Firefighters Benevolent Association remains dedicated to assisting and playing a role in this crucial cause. They extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the sponsors of this year’s event.
“We look forward to building on the success we have had from the first two tournaments and are excited to watch the event grow even bigger, which will, in turn, help spread the importance of our lagoon and waterways….together we can protect this important ecosystem which we all rely on in some way or another,” Lieutenant Bradley Eskew.
Mark your calendars: Next year’s tournament will again occur on Father’s Day Weekend in 2024 at Sebastian Saltwater Marina & Restaurant. So, get ready for another unforgettable experience!
