The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is hosting two exciting month-long fishing tournaments this September and October. Whether you’re an inshore angler or looking to help eradicate invasive species, there’s a competition for you!
CPR for the IRL Tournament
This catch-photo-release (CPR) tournament focuses on sustainable fishing practices within the Indian River Lagoon (IRL). Target snook, redfish, trout, and tarpon while promoting the health of this vital ecosystem. The tournament runs from September 14th to October 12th. Registration is open now for $150, increasing to $175 after August 15th.
Lionfish Derby
Help save Florida’s reefs by participating in the inaugural Lionfish Derby! This statewide competition encourages the removal of this invasive predator throughout the month of September. There are no restrictions on how many lionfish you harvest, with prizes awarded for the most captured.
Support the ELC
By participating in these tournaments, you’re not only enjoying a day on the water, but also contributing to the ELC’s education and conservation efforts. All proceeds go towards protecting the IRL and its marine life.
