The Sebastian Police Department (SPD) is accepting applications for their 2024 Citizen’s Academy, which will be held February 8th through April 25th on Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Sebastian Police Department.
Discover the Sebastian Police Department through a 12-week program, enhancing your understanding of our local law enforcement. Strengthen community ties and become an informed citizen ready to contribute to a better quality of life.
The Citizens Academy will provide hands-on interactive training in a comfortable environment on topics that include:
- Patrol Operations
- Police K-9
- Community Policing
- Crime Prevention
- Crime Scene & Evidence
- Criminal Investigations
- Special Response Team (SRT)
- Marine Patrol
- And more
I completed this course in 2022, and it was a great experience that helped me better understand how each department within the SPD works. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to understand more about our police department & other agencies who work closely with them.
How to Apply
Applications can be picked up at the SPD during regular business hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. There is no cost to attend the Citizens Police Academy, and upon completion, members will be awarded a “Certificate of Graduation.”
