MICCO – The Micco Sewer Project has been planned since 2017 and will soon help the Indian River Lagoon and local businesses in South Brevard.
The county doesn’t allow businesses the use of dishwashing systems when on septic. So, many of the restaurants in Micco serve their food on paperware with plastic utensils because they are on septic.
However, that’s all about to change as Brevard County, and local cities won a $644,793 grant that will benefit a sewer project.
The grant will help pay for a sewer line extension in Micco. Brevard was counting on the grant money to help pay for a project to extend sewer lines by 6,200 feet along U.S. 1.
This project will help 16 businesses and 18 residences in the Micco area now using septic tanks to hook up to the sewer system.
The project is expected to complete by 2020.
