The Vero Beach Police Department is working closely with the United States Coast Guard and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office to find a missing kayaker who launched from Sexton Plaza in Vero Beach.
Donald Waters, 42, was reported missing to the Vero Beach Police Department by one of his friends on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at approximately 8:30 pm. The friend last spoke to the missing kayaker at approximately 10:00 am. At that time, he was not sure of his location and could not see land.
Once the VBPD received the report, they contacted the United States Coast Guard and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office to assist in a search by boat and air.
According to the Vero Beach Police Department, Don Waters has still not been found, as of Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 2:30 pm. However, his kayak has been located.
