Dr. Kelsey Whelan has joined the Pelican Island Elementary School as its new assistant principal in Sebastian, Florida.
“I am ecstatic to help guide our Pelicans to soar to success as Pelican Island Elementary School’s Assistant Principal,” Whelan said.
Whelan was raised in Indian River County and attended Pelican Island as a student in elementary school. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami, then continued her education to earn master’s, specialist, and doctorate degrees.
“This is now my 12th year in education, advocating for lifelong learning through a positive, safe, and engaging educational environment,” she said.
Whelan’s experience includes teaching second, third, fourth, and fifth grades and, most recently, serving as an instructional coach.
She currently lives in Sebastian with her husband and 10-month-old daughter.
“I am so excited for the upcoming school year and to see all the greatness our students will accomplish while making Every Day Earth Day,” Whelan said.
