Sandy’s Grille may have shut down for the time being, but that hasn’t stopped her from lending a helping hand. She is just taking some time to evaluate the situation, and she will go from there.
This week she dedicated her kitchen and donated food to feed those in need and first responders. Some of the people who received food include Love to Serve, Inc., Hope for Family’s Homeless Shelter, Sebastian Police Department, Fire Stations #8 & #9, Learning Nest, Hospice patients, and elderly families that can not leave their homes.
Sandy Jankovic, the owner of Sandy’s Grille, did not take closing lightly. Weeks before the Coronavirus hit Sebastian, she spoke with her staff about what they would like to do.
“50% did not want to stay open, and 50% said they would be here if I needed them, Jankovic told Sebastian Daily.
I asked Sandy how her staff is going to survive financially.
“Payroll is Monday, and I am going to see what I can do,” Jankovic told us.
For right now, Sandy is doing her best to feed those in need, which is very admirable. She is no stranger to helping those in need. When hurricanes have hit in the past, Sandy has opened up her restaurant free of charge to make sure everyone could have a warm meal.
We will keep everyone posted about when Sandy’s Grille will be opening back up.
