A miniature potbelly pig named “Miracle” that became a celebrity at local community events in Sebastian has passed away.
“Miracle passed away last night in her sleep,” Tinamarie Ioffredo told Sebastian Daily.
Miracle was also the mascot of the Sebastian Police Department and was seen at almost every community event in Sebastian. Children enjoyed getting their pictures taken with her, as she made them smile.
The potbelly pig was born in Ioffredo’s yard prematurely in 2012. She was born blind, handicapped, and almost didn’t make it, so she was named Miracle. She was about to turn 11 years old.
“The vet thought she was only going to live for an hour,” Ioffredo explained.
Miracle has been to the Firefighters Fair, Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival, community night out events, and school events. In addition, she spent time entertaining people at senior citizens’ retirement homes and many other activities.
You would often see Miracle at all the local parades and the annual Shop with a Cop event.
Miniature Potbellied Pigs
Minature potbellied pigs are very social animals, and they are far less likely to become aggressive. They need plenty of time outdoors, which is a natural pig behavior.
When potbellied pigs are young, they scream for their food. These behaviors don’t mean that a pig is being bad. They are just being who they are by nature.
After proper care and training, these pigs are charming, intelligent, and affectionate companions. They are pretty smart and curious, and it can be challenging to keep them entertained.
