SEBASTIAN – Sebastian dog, Izzy, will receive medical treatment for cancer thanks to the Magic Bullet Fund.
In the United States alone, there are approximately 65 million pet dogs, and roughly 50% of them will have some form of cancer in their lifetime. That means approximately 8,000 dogs per day diagnosed with cancer.
When Izzy, a Shih Tzu, was diagnosed with Lymphoma, her owner did not know how she was going to afford to pay for her beloved dog to receive chemotherapy treatment.
Luckily, the Magic Bullet Fund stepped in and offered to provide financial assistance for Izzy’s treatment. Thanks to a generous $50,000 grant from Petco Foundation this remarkable foundation has been able to assist over 500 dogs with cancer treatment.
Cancer treatment for canines would cost their owners between $600 and $6,000. A good portion of dog owners are not financially prepared to pay for this necessary treatment. This fantastic fund will provide financial assistance to dog owners when the family is unable to afford the expensive treatment. Most families who have received funding were able to contribute a portion towards the care, and the Magic Bullet Fund was able to cover the rest of the expenses.
The Magic Bullet Fund, whose motto is Fighting Canine Cancer One Dog at a Time, was founded by Laurie Kaplan after her dog, Bullet, was diagnosed with lymphoma.
