The Sebastian Police Department’s ‘Special Response Team’ (SRT) is hosting its Annual Cornhole Tournament, which is open to the community.
This year’s tournament will be at the popular Capt Hirams Resort on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Anyone can learn how to play cornhole, a game where players take turns tossing bean bags at a slanted board. To score points, a player must land one of the bags through the hole in the board. It’s a perfect game for friendly competition.
There will be 32 teams at the tournament, each paying a $50 entry fee to participate, which helps support the Special Response Team’s efforts in our community.
The tournament will follow a single-elimination format, meaning if a team loses once, they’re out. However, they get a second chance in the “Redemption Round” allowing teams to have another shot at making a comeback. There will be cash prizes up for grabs.
Armored Vehicles on Display/Games for All Ages
In addition to the tournament, the SRT will have armored vehicles on display, and you’ll even get a chance to interact with them, learning how they are used by law enforcement to keep our city safe.
On top of that, there will be other games to enjoy, plus raffle prizes that could include some surprises. It’s shaping up to be a day packed with entertainment for people of all ages.
If you’re interested in signing up your team or helping out as a sponsor, you can contact Sergeant Mark Richard or Lieutenant Roy Cole from the Sebastian Police Department. Call them at (772) 388-7865 or email them to srtfundraiser@cityofsebastian.org.
