SEBASTIAN – Sebastian River High School’s crew team will be competing Friday and Saturday, May 24th and 25th at the 2019 Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championships Regatta at Dillon Lake in Nashport, OH.
They will be joining 155 other clubs from Canada and all over the United States to compete. There are a total of 502 entries from Canada, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, DC competing.
Sebastian will have entries in the following categories:
- Women’s Lightweight Double: Olivia Faria and Kate Adams
- Women’s Junior Varsity 4+: Andres Ruiz (coxswain), Kalena Rutledge, Keilin DiScenza, Emma Dingus and Ashley Ramirez
- Men’s Junior Varsity 4+: Hunter Morrison (coxswain), Vincent Esposito, Alex Tipton, Matthew VanZuydam and Jeremy Phillips
- Men’s Varsity 4+: Matt Perakes (coxswain), Darian DiScenza, Josh Grimison, Gavin Quinn and AJ Inman
Last year the Woman’s Varsity 4 took a bronze medal at nationals, and this year each boat along with women’s coach Tom Lange and men’s coach Susanne Vaughn hopes to follow in their footsteps with national metals.
Currently, Sebastian River High School is the 2018-2019 State Scholastic Champions in Men’s Double for sculling and Men’s Varsity 4+, Woman’s Junior Varsity 4+ and Men’s Junior Varsity 4+ Sweep Champions.

There will be 2 free learn to row events; they will be June 8th and June 15th. Both are from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at C-54 canal in Fellsmere.
