Brandon Jenkins joins Sebastian River High School (SRHS) as the new Director of Bands. Jenkins is the former Assistant Director of Bands at Jackson State University and Director of Bands at Heritage High School.
The new band director has worked with the world-renowned “Sonic Boom of the South” Marching Band while at JSU, conducted the University Symphonic Band, and taught conducting and other courses in the Department of Music.

Notably, the program’s excellence was consistently recognized, garnering consecutive “superior” ratings at the esteemed Florida Bandmasters Association Musical Performance Assessments.
In 2017, Jenkins was honored with the esteemed Tom Bishop Award by the FBA during the annual in-service conference of the Florida Music Educators Association. This prestigious recognition was a testament to his outstanding contributions. Furthermore, in recognition of his exemplary dedication and teaching prowess, Mr. Jenkins was bestowed with the “2018 Teacher of the Year” title for Brevard Public Schools. These accolades further solidify his exceptional standing within the educational community.
In addition to being in the final stages of completing his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Wind Conducting at The University of Southern Mississippi, he maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the southern U.S.
Mr. Jenkins maintains an extensive network of professional affiliations, which include esteemed organizations such as the College Band Directors’ National Association, National Association for Music Education, Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, National Education Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.
