St. Baldrick’s of Indian River County held their Annual Signature Shave Event at Capt Hirams Sandbar on Saturday and raised close to $60,000 for childhood cancer research. More importantly, they surpassed $1 Million raised for Childhood Cancer Research at their 9th Signature Shave Event in Indian River County.
“Currently, the after-event web page shows $47,663 raised but after corporate matching funds plus checks to be cashed, I estimate we will be closer to $60,000, which exceeds last year’s virtual shave where we raised $50,000,” Lead Organizer Frank Cookie Mannino told Sebastian Daily.
“The event was a great success,” Mannino added.

Worldwide, there are more than 300,000 children diagnosed with cancer each year. In the United States., more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease, more than asthma, AIDS, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and congenital anomalies combined. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation exists to change these realities.
