VERO BEACH – The United Way of Indian River County is inviting the public to its Third Annual Trike Wars and Thank You Block Party on Friday, May 2, starting at 5 p.m. at Sailfish Brewery in Vero Beach.
The star of the night is Trike Wars, a thrilling relay race where teams from big local companies battle it out on tricycles. These teams come from United Way’s Torchbearer Workplaces—businesses that give $12,000 or more each year through their employees and company donations. They’ll be racing for a shiny championship trophy.
Last year, three lucky people won a raffle to join a team and ended up winning the whole thing. You can buy raffle tickets this year, too, for your shot to ride with a team!
After the races, the fun keeps going with a big block party. There will be live music from a band called 60 West, tasty food from street bars, and activities the whole family can enjoy.
This event is a way for United Way to say “thank you” to all the volunteers, donors, and companies that help them do their important work. It’s the grand finale of their Annual Campaign, which raises money to support the community.
Some companies are sponsoring the tricycles, like Morgan Petersen Wealth Management and Gould Cooksey Fennell. The Torchbearer Workplaces this year include big names like Bank of America, Publix, and the Indian River Sheriff’s Office, plus many others who are pitching in to make a difference.
Anyone can come to the event, and United Way hopes to see lots of people there. If you or your business want to help sponsor the night, you can call Jessica Schmitt at (772) 567-8900 or email her at Jessica.Schmitt@UnitedWayIRC.org. She’s the Director of Philanthropy and would love to hear from you.
