The Indian River County Sheriff’s office is currently investigating the death of 60-year-old John Swanigan of Sebastian.
Swanigan’s family last saw him on Friday, January 8th, 2021. Today, 11-days from when he went missing, authorities recovered his body from the trunk of a vehicle located on Dickens Ave in Sebastian.
“We had a missing person’s case, John Swanigan, and unfortunately today we came to a sad ending on that case,” Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers told Sebastian Daily.
Flowers said there is one person in custody and will conduct a search warrant to continue with the investigation throughout the evening.
Authorities believe Swanigan’s death may be due to an overdose; however, it is too soon in the investigation to be sure.
