A high-speed pursuit unfolded on Tuesday when a black Cadillac without a license plate was spotted traveling westbound on Vocelle Avenue, leading to a dangerous chase on Roseland Road.
At approximately 10:09 a.m., a deputy from the Indian River County Sheriff’s deputy observed the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the driver accelerated and engaged in reckless driving behaviors, including speeding, tire squealing, and fishtailing.
They would not pull over despite law enforcement efforts to stop the vehicle, which sped up to over 70 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police said the driver posed a significant risk to other motorists.
Ignoring a stop sign at the intersection of Barber Street and Vocelle Avenue, the vehicle weaved through various streets, passing in no-passing zones and forcing other motorists off the road.
The pursuit persisted along Roseland Road as the suspect, in a frantic bid to flee law enforcement, lost control of their vehicle, resulting in it becoming disabled off the road.
The driver, identified as Jesse David Caron, initially refused to obey verbal commands but ultimately complied and was arrested without further incidents. He was charged with the following:
- Felony Flee & Elude
- Reckless Driving
- Resist Officer w/o Violence
- Felony Possession of Oxycontin
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
Caron, who is currently out on bond for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, was transported to the Indian River County Jail, where he’s currently being held without bond.
