VERO BEACH – The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested 3 people on charges of conspiracy to commit 1st-degree murder.
Investigators say Christopher Narine, 20, and his father, Suraj Narine, 44, soliticted a Vero Beach homeless man, Michiel Hamons, 55, to murder Magdalene Narine, who is Suraj’s mother.
Christopher and Suraj would sometimes meet with Michiel at a Vero Beach McDonald’s or at their home to discuss killing Magdalene.
The three suspects spoke about several ways of killing Magdalene, but recently agreed to inject her with a large amount of insulin since she’s diabetic. Michiel would be paid $5,000 for the murder of Suraj’s mother.
After the murder, they would drive her car with the body in it to a canal near where she is employed. Michiel would use his truck to push Magdalene’s car and body into the Vero Beach canal.
The men were talking about the plans to murder Magdalene for about two months. The murder was supposed to take place this week, but a fourth man who knew of the plot came forward and told police.
Christopher and Suraj said they would receive a large inheritance after the murder, and promised Michiel more money “because he is doing most of the work,” according to the report.
Christopher Narine and Suraj Narine were each arrested on two counts of Felony Attempt, Solicitation and Conspiracy with a $500,000 bond.
Michiel Hamons was arrested on one count of Felony Attempt, Solicitation and Conspiracy with a $250,000 bond.
All three suspects are being held at the Indian River County Jail.
