A Barefoot Bay man was arrested last Sunday for stealing water from his neighbor’s home.
The victim wasn’t home at the time of the theft, but when he returned, he notified the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
As a deputy arrived, he observed a black hose on the ground running between two homes.
The deputy spoke with Michael Sean Mauzy, 62, of Barefoot Bay. Mauzy said he needed to clean a window, but his neighbor wasn’t home. So, he connected the hose to his neighbor’s home to clean the window.
“During a sworn audio statement from the victim, the victim stated she did not give anyone permission to be at the residence nor to use their utilities,” the deputy said.
Mauzy was charged with Theft of Utilities and transported to the Brevard County Jail, where his bond was set at $500.
