A Micco homeowner woke up to the sound of his truck starting up and driving away last Friday morning.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner checked his driveway around 6 a.m. to find his blue Ford F-150 pickup gone. The homeowner contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report the theft.
Fortunately, a deputy spotted the stolen truck a short while later parked at Cumberland Farms on U.S. Highway 1 in Micco. The officer observed a man, later identified as Steve Woods, exiting the store and walking towards the truck.
Approached by the deputy, Woods denied ownership or knowledge of the vehicle’s owner. He claimed he found the truck unlocked, discovered a key on the floorboard, and decided to take it for a ride.
Woods was arrested and charged with Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. He’s currently being held at the Brevard County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
