VERO BEACH – Five more stores have been caught selling alcohol to minors during an Alcohol Compliance Detail in Sebastian and Vero Beach.
As previously reported by Sebastian Daily, three store clerks in Vero Beach sold alcohol to minors on Monday. The stores were the Shell gas station, Citco store, and the Cumberland Farms.
BP Gas Station in Vero Beach
A 19-year-old went into the BP gas station located at 8195 20th Street in Vero Beach and purchased a 24-ounce Twisted Tea alcoholic beverage.
The clerk told deputies that he sold the Twisted Tea without asking for identification because he was busy dealing with multiple customers. The clerk was issued a Notice to Appear and a court date.
Cumberland Farms in Sebastian
In Sebastian, an 18-year-old working undercover entered the Cumberland Farms store at 957 Sebastian Blvd. and purchased a 24oz can of Twisted Tea, Hard Ice Tea at the counter.
The clerk said she sold the alcohol because another clerk knew the person and that “he was ok.” She was served a Notice to Appear and a court date.
Raceway in Fellsmere
Out west of Sebastian near Fellsmere, an 18-year-old undercover minor walked into the Raceway convenient store near I-95 and purchased a 24oz Twisted Tea, Hard Ice Tea from the counter.
Deputies made contact with the clerk who identified him by his Republic of India Passport. The clerk was cooperative and was issued a Notice to Appear.
Sunoco Store in Vero Beach
A minor working undercover walked into the Sunoco Store at 2465 27th Avenue SW and purchased a 24 oz. can of Four Loco.
The clerk said she didn’t “ID” the undercover minor and was issued a Notice To Appear with a court date.
Beverage Stop in Vero Beach
A 19-year-old minor walked into the Beverage Stop gas station at 310 27th Avenue SW and purchased a 24 oz. can of Twisted Tea.
Deputies made contact with the clerk who’s been working at the store for three years. The clerk said he was unaware that he needed to ask customers for identification.
He was issued a Notice to Appear with a court date.
