A motorcyclist was arrested in Sebastian last Saturday after leading authorities on a high-speed chase.
At approximately 4 p.m., an Indian River County Sheriff’s deputy observed five motorcycles engaging in reckless driving on U.S. Highway 1 in Sebastian. According to the affidavit, the motorcycles traveled at speeds exceeding 75 mph in a 45 mph zone, splitting lanes, and cutting off other motorists.
When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, two motorcycles fled at high speed. Two others complied with the stop, but the third, later identified as Ralik Childs of Palm Bay, accelerated and continued to evade the deputy.
The deputy said Childs drove at excessive speeds, ran a red light at the intersection of Main Street, and continued to drive recklessly on Schumann Drive. He was eventually apprehended at Schumann Park without further incident.
Childs was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail for processing. He was charged with reckless driving and fleeing to elude police.
