A Port St. Lucie woman was arrested last Saturday after Sebastian Police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walmart located at 2001 U.S. Highway 1.
According to police reports, employees contacted authorities around 12:25 pm on July 6th to report a woman leaving the store with over $1,300 in unpaid merchandise.
The woman, identified as 29-year-old Holly Rebecca Aldrich, reportedly fled the scene in a white Jeep headed towards Jackson Street.
Officers quickly located the vehicle at the intersection near the store and conducted a traffic stop in the Ay Jalisco parking lot.
Aldrich, who works as a nurse practitioner, said her Walmart mobile app malfunctioned while she was attempting to use the self-check out, according to police. However, Walmart employees allege Aldrich bypassed all points of sale without making any attempt to pay for the $1,325.60 worth of merchandise.
Aldrich was arrested on charges of grand theft and booked into the Indian River County Jail. She has since been released on a $1,000 bond with an arraignment scheduled for September 5th, 2024.
