A 60-year-old man was arrested after a Ring Security Camera recorded him burglarizing a home in Grant.
The camera recorded Ray Allan Powell entering the unoccupied residence and removing items. When Powell attempted to leave, he backed his vehicle into a ditch and got stuck until deputies arrived.
Powell took approximately $820 worth of property belonging to the homeowner. Powell did not know the victim and did not have permission to enter the home or take anything from the residence.
Deputies identified Powell in the Ring camera videos.
Powell confessed to opening the front door, entering the property, and taking a television. He told deputies that he “normally sells the property he takes” but wanted to keep the TV for himself.
Deputies found the television and other stolen items in Powell’s vehicle. He was charged with burglary, grand theft, and transported to the Brevard County Jail.
Powell is currently being held on a $7,000 bond.
