A Sebastian man was arrested on a battery charge after pulling his mother’s hair for not giving him any money. The police received the call Tuesday.
According to the affidavit, the victim told officers that her son, identified as 35-year-old Drew Allen Daniels, asked for money she does not have. She became irritated and turned around to walk away.
Daniels, who lives with his mother, allegedly grabbed her hair from a hair tie and pulled on it. The mother said he then left home and went to work.
“I observed her hair to be in a disheveled state and hair tie in the middle of her hair, consistent with her statements,” the officer said.
Police then spoke with Daniels, who had similar accounts as to what happened. Daniels said he asked for money because he’s always giving his mother money.
Daniels said after asking his mother for money, he never pulled on her hair. Instead, he claims that he only tapped her on the shoulder to get his mother’s attention.
When police asked again if he pulled her hair, he stated, “my hand may have tangled in her hair, but I didn’t pull it,” the report said.
“I asked Drew [Daniels] to explain how him tapping on [his mother’s] shoulder could have tangled her hair while it was tied back, to which he did not have an answer for,” the officer said.
Daniels was transported to the Indian River County Jail, where his bond was set at $1,500.
