A 45-year-old Sebastian woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and kicking two police officers. The incident happened after she crashed into another vehicle on Sebastian Boulevard (CR-512).
On Monday, around 11 p.m., a Sebastian police officer saw a Ford pickup truck going west while failing to maintain her lane. The officer then saw the truck hit another car near Blue Island Street, and then the vehicle came to a complete stop.
When officers got to the truck, they found a woman in the fetal position in the driver’s seat. Police identified her as Jennifer Brown. According to the official report, the officers said she appeared intoxicated because of her slurred speech and trouble forming a complete sentence.
When the officers asked Brown to exit the truck, she declined. They asked her to remove her seatbelt, but she told them to do it themselves. As she exited the pickup, she began kicking officers as they were attempting to handcuff her. She tripped one of the officers at one point, and he fell, causing abrasions to both knees.
On the way to the Indian River County Jail, Brown kicked the inside partition of the officer’s vehicle and said, “I hope you die.” When they got to the jail, she refused to take a breath test.
Brown’s bail was set at $9,000.
