VERO BEACH – On Tuesday, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Brevard County detective about a stolen vehicle located in Vero Beach.
Detectives used a GPS tracker to locate the stolen Red Chevrolet Equinox. A deputy drove past the location in Vero Beach and spotted the vehicle in a driveway.
Crystal Lynn Simes, 21, was seen in the driver’s seat of the vehicle talking to 2 males. As deputies arrived, they ordered all three subjects to the ground.
Simes admitted to stealing the vehicle in Brevard County and that she bought 3 blue oxycodone pills. Deputies found one of the 30mg oxycodone pills in a burnt piece of tinfoil located in a small notebook.
Also recovered was a hollowed out shaft pen with burn marks used to smoke the oxycodone.
Deputies then searched the vehicle and found $150 in stolen cash and a stolen ring.
Simes was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where she was charged with Felony 3rd Degree Grand Theft, Felony Poss Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession Drug Paraphernalia, and Felony Introduction of Contraband Into Detention Facility.
Bond set at $21,000.
