Two women were arrested Monday morning after allegedly burglarizing a hotel room at Captain Hirams Resort in Sebastian.
According to the Sebastian Police Department, they received a call about a burglary at around 9:15 a.m. An employee at the resort told police that she noticed a charge to a room that had no reservation or registered guests.
Upon investigation, the employee and a housekeeper found the door to the room in question deadbolted shut. When they called the room, two women fled through the patio door and left the scene in a black vehicle, nearly hitting one of the employees.
The employee recorded the incident, capturing the vehicle’s license plate. Using the Flock Camera System, Indian River County Sheriff’s deputies located the car on 21st Avenue in Vero Beach and apprehended the two suspects, both residents of Vero Beach.
The suspects were identified as Kimberly Nicole Greer, 36, and Daniel Nicole Maroska, 38. Both women claimed to have arrived at the hotel the night before to meet two men they had met on Facebook. They said the men had opened the hotel room for them, and they rented movies totaling $45 but were unaware of the charge.
Greer was charged with burglary, entering and occupying a dwelling, theft, and aggravated assault. She is being held on a $19,500 bond.
Maroska was charged with burglary, entering and occupying a dwelling, and theft. She is being held on a $16,000 bond.
