SEBASTIAN – Captain Hiram’s Resort and Capt Hiram’s River Challenge Triathlon and will be hosting their 2nd Riverfront Cleanup on Sunday, August 19 from 8-11 a.m.
Volunteers who are interested in keeping our riverfront beautiful should meet at Capt Hiram’s Resort at 8 a.m. Everyone will be divided into two teams – one will head north, and one will head south along Indian River Drive.
The teams will be collecting cigarette butts, cans, bottles, paper, plastic and all items considered to be trash along Sebastian’s riverfront.
Capt Hiram’s will be supplying participants with rubber gloves and trash bags. Five-gallon buckets also work well and are easy to carry, so if you have some available bring them with you.
“Will the clean up be on land or in the water along the shore? In other words, will we be walking or paddling?” Claire Matthews asked Capt Hiram’s on Facebook.
“Hi Claire, we focus on the shoreline along Indian River Drive. Sometimes there is a little bit of wet sand or lapping waves, but for the most part, you stay dry. Hope you’ll join us!” Capt Hiram’s River Challenge Triathlon stated.
Capt Hiram’s is located at 1606 Indian River Drive in Sebastian.
