The Craker Day Rodeo will be Sunday, March 6, 2022, starting at 1:00 pm at the Fellsmere Riding Club Arena. Gates open at noon. There will be bull riding, mutton busting, and barrels racing.
Bull Riding
In bull riding, a rider gets on a bucking bull and attempts to stay mounted while the bull tries to buck them off. If the rider touches the bull or themselves with the freehand or fails to reach the eight-second mark, they will receive a no-score ride.
Mutton Busting
Mutton busting is relatively simple; children between the ages of 4 – 7 clamber aboard a wooly, wild sheep and attempt to hold on for six seconds.
Barrel Racing
In barrel racing, a horse and rider attempt to run a cloverleaf pattern around barrels in the fastest time possible. It is predominantly a women’s event; however, both sexes compete.
This sport requires a combination of a horse with athletic ability and the rider’s horsemanship skills to safely and successfully maneuver the horse around three barrels placed in a triangle pattern.
