Indian River County Upgrades Online Appointment System for COVID-19 Vaccines

Indian River County Commission

On Monday, January 25, 2021, the Indian River County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 to move forward with Luminare Inc. to purchase a 60 day trial of their Innoculate Covid Vaccine Management Solution.

The 60-day trial cost is $15,000 with texting capabilities and up to an additional $200,000 annually, depending on what options the County Commissioners choose. It will be paid for with CARES Act funds.

Commissioner Laura Moss expressed some concerns over the costs, but she did vote in favor. She hopes that residents will find comfort in knowing that they have an appointment, even if it is a few months out.

Using the Luminare Inc. software system will allow Indian River County to move to an online appointment reservation system with a waitlist capability.

However, they will now be responsible for operating their own call centers. Details will be available on the Indian River County website and ALERT Indian River as soon as they are available.

Vaccines are still limited – Please be patient!

The limited number of COVID-19 vaccines that Indian River County receives from the State of Florida will continue to determine appointment availability.

They WILL NOT accept walk-ups. Please continue to check the Indian River County website (www.ircgov.com) as new appointments will be released once additional vaccines are confirmed.

Individuals are encouraged to subscribe to ALERT Indian River for FREE alerts for future updates on vaccination clinics.

Additionally, Indian River County will share updates on their website and other social media platforms as they become available.

Vaccines Administered

As of Monday, January 25, 2021, there have been 13,470 vaccines administered to those over 65-years of age.

Also, 2,811 Health Care Workers with direct patient contact have received vaccines.

Second Doses

If you have already had your first vaccination, don’t worry. DO NOT CALL the Health Department. You will receive an automated call with an appointment time within a few days of when your second dose is due.

They HAVE ENOUGH DOSES put aside for everyone who has already received their 1st dose through the Indian River County drive-thru vaccination clinic, located at the Indian River County Fairgrounds.

The Florida Department of Health is on track for everyone to receive their next within 3-4 weeks of their first vaccination. However, if need be, the Health Department has a window of up to 42 days to administer the 2nd dose.

Please call the emergency information center at (772) 226-4000 if you have additional questions.
