Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is ordering all bars in the state to shut down for 30 days after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
In addition, all Florida restaurants can stay open with only 50% capacity, with seating 6 to 10 feet away between patrons. Gov. DeSantis is also asking restaurants to provide take-out ordering.
Woody’s BBQ, Capt. Hirams Blackfins, Mulligans, Pareidolia Brewing Company, Tiki Bar & Grill, and Crab Stop are some of the restaurants open for 50% capacity. We will have a full list of restaurants published soon.
The measure is to reduce crowds in condensed areas to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Earlier today, Indian River County declared a state of emergency, which enables government officials to take extra measures to protect the public as needed.
Yesterday, Captain Hirams and other businesses prepared for the shut down prior to today’s announcement. Most bars will try to serve food at 50% capacity, or will provide take-out orders for food. No bars will be open after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. Bars who have a restaurant license can be open with 50% capacity.
Last night, Brevard County announced its first presumptive positive case of coronavirus, according to the Florida Department of Health.
“The arrival of coronavirus in Brevard is neither a surprise nor catastrophic. The county has been taking preventative actions since January, actions which have been expanded in recent days. The county and our partner agencies have all necessary resources and support personnel to address this occurrence,” Brevard County Commission Chair Bryan Lober told Sebastian Daily.
Sebastian Daily is working on additional information that will be published soon.
