Anglers are catching snook, pompano, bluefish, jack crevalles, black drum, and cobia at the Sebastian Inlet and nearby beaches.
Anglers tell Sebastian Daily that Shrimp is the preferred bait this week for fishing along the shoreline, the north and south jetties, and docks.

Johnathan Nargi (pictured above) of Melbourne fished the beaches around the Sebastian Inlet with his family for the first time last week.
He caught several fish using Shrimp and fish bites, including pompano, bluefish, and cobia.
Kirby Kitchener
Kirby Kitchener, a local real estate agent with Coldwell Banker in Sebastian, caught a nice black drum last week at the end of the Jetty at Sebastian Inlet on the outgoing tide.
Kitchener, who’s been fishing at the inlet since the 1970s, used dead Shrimp as bait from Winn Dixie ($6.95 lb) with heads on. He used a 20lb test line on a PENN Spinning Reel on an 8′ rod for gear.
“Saw others catching large jacks and a few blue fish. The water was clearer, the humidity was down, and the day was beautiful,” Kitchener told Sebastian Daily.
The angler said a few guys were trying to hook a Goliath Grouper with large live mullet.
“They hooked a few but never got one in. I feel sorry for those fish because you cannot keep them, and most of them are swimming around with leftover hooks in their mouths from these guys who just want to catch one, and they bring the wrong gear to try to do so, ending up with a broken line,” Kitchener added.

Watch out for sudden thunderstorms every afternoon this week, including Saturday and Sunday. There are no small craft advisories at this time, but the waters become very choppy when these storms hit.
Winds are at 10 to 15 knots and seas 3 to 4 feet, with occasional seas to 5 feet.
