Sebastian Fishing Report: Sheepshead, snook, jack, and flounder at the Inlet

Fishing at the Sebastian Inlet.

Anglers are catching sheepshead, snook, jack crevalle, and flounder near the Sebastian Inlet. The fishing is good in Sebastian, Florida.

One important note is that snook season closes Thursday night at midnight. All snook have to be a minimum of 28 inches before they can be kept, and a maximum of 32 inches. Only one per person is allowed. Please obey the regulations.

Also, the temperatures are going to get cooler. You can read our Sebastian Weather forecast for more information. We’re talking about higher winds, rough seas, and cooler temperatures.

According to our friend “Snookman” Wayne Landry, the North Jetty is still closed, but the beach access at the restroom and concession boardwalk has been cleared for safe passage to the beach. From there, jack crevalle is caught using bait and spoons.

When fishing near the northeast tip of the North Jetty, usually where boaters fish, anglers are catching sheepshead on cut shrimp during the incoming tide.

The incoming tide is the best time to fish at the South Jetty. Snook and flounder have been caught using small finger mullet, mud minnows, and assorted fishing lures.

The T-Dock area near the Inlet has been slow, with only a few small flounder caught on the incoming tide using mud minnows and small finger mullets. Anglers are catching snook using live pinfish.

Sharon caught a pompano near the Sebastian Inlet

Last week, Sharon from Micco caught a nice pompano near the Inlet using live shrimp as bait. Here’s the tackle she used:

Sharon has been fishing at the Inlet weekly for the past four years. “We catch a lot of different fish there,” she told Sebastian Daily.

If you plan to do some fishing, let us know how you did and the tackle you used by sending us an email. We love to receive your fishing pictures too!
