The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering a tantalizing opportunity to residents and tourists alike for two weekends of license-free fishing in June.
These are set to occur from June 3-4 for saltwater fishing and June 10-11 for those who prefer freshwater.
These license-free fishing weekends present a splendid chance to embrace Florida’s natural splendor and experience the diverse fishing opportunities. FWC is urging everyone to take advantage of these weekends to experience the awe-inspiring beauty of Florida’s waters, especially the rich waters around Sebastian.
“Fishing is a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors and experience the abundant fishing resources that Florida, and particularly Sebastian, has to offer,” expressed Roger Young, the Executive Director of FWC. “License-free fishing weekends provide Floridians and visitors an opportunity to get outdoors, bond with nature and create lasting memories with family and friends.”
While the license-free weekends offer an exemption from the usual licensing requirements, it’s essential to remember that all bag limits, size limits, and other fishing regulations remain in place. Anglers are required to comply with all other fishing rules, such as gear restrictions, seasons, and closures.
To guarantee a safe and enjoyable fishing experience, FWC recommends all anglers review the regulations before setting out on their fishing ventures. For the most recent recreational fishing regulations, visit MyFWC.com/about and click on “Rules & Regulations”. Alternatively, the Fish Rules App offers updates on saltwater and freshwater regulations in your area.
For the residents of Sebastian, the Sebastian Inlet State Park offers excellent spots for fishing. Refer to our Sebastian Inlet Fishing Report for more details on which fish are currently biting.
Boaters can launch their vessels at the local boat ramp. Anglers can also benefit from the FWC’s quarterly Freshwater Fishing Forecasts by region, which provide useful insights about expected fishing conditions.
