Jacks, ladyfish, Spanish mackerel, and various snappers are biting at the Sebastian Inlet, but the weather conditions have been challenging for fishing.

The winds were relentless throughout last weekend, with seas up to 6-7 feet and morning high king tides at the inlet. The seas have been rough with waves going over the North and South jetties. However, calmer winds are expected this weekend.
Anglers at the North Jetty are mostly catching jacks and ladyfish. I did see one person with a snook this morning, but they just aren’t biting. Further down the jetty towards the Sebastian Inlet Bridge, anglers are catching Spanish mackerel along the north wall.
Another problem at the inlet has been the seaweed, making it difficult to fish. The jetty is covered in it from the crashing waves.
There’s also been some action on the South side of the inlet around the cleaning table and t-dock. The incoming tide is producing some snook on live pigfish and shrimp, as well as a few catch-and-release redfish. Spanish mackerel and jacks are biting on small jigs and spoons.
Overall, the Sebastian inlet is busy on both sides, with jacks everywhere.
Now, there’s a construction project at the North Jetty starting on Nov. 4th, which means there won’t be any access. There will be a lot of heavy equipment and supplies in the area to begin work on the north side wall, jetty, and rock shoreline. The South Jetty will remain open.
For weather, starting today and through the weekend, expect highs near 82 degrees and overnight lows near 70. There’s a 20% chance of rain each day, mainly in the afternoons, with northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph. However, starting Sunday, the winds will be 10 to 15 mph with 20 mph gusts. So make sure you get your fishing in before Sunday, unless you’re up for the challenge.
