Sebastian is a diamond in the rough. Some residents are vocal about the latest Waste Management price hike of 15% because they demand better service.

Diamond in the Rough

I have heard individuals say: “Sebastian is a diamond in the rough.” I believe Sebastian is a diamond in a beautiful setting. I am new to Sebastian and attended Tuesday’s Sept 13th council meeting. I was impressed.

Why? While living in my former city of residence, I worked part-time for the Wallingford, CT, Government TV channel. Your council meeting room is something to be very proud of, and this includes your audio-visual system.

I was further impressed with the size of the crowd in attendance. My hometown has twice the population, and we would be fortunate if we had ten people in attendance.

In closing, I have one more statement to make. Those individuals, public and private, who are working on the annexation, need to have a definite plan before the process goes too far and possibly gets out of hand.

I realize not every action planned would be foolproof. However, with diligent planning and having available options when a curve ball is thrown would ensure positive outcomes for Sebastian and its citizens.

November Elections

It is vitally important for the public to come out in support of women’s right to choose. It will be a close call, but women who have an interest in keeping choice an alternative to an unwanted pregnancy must show up at the polls in numbers to secure this right.

Waste Management Rate Increase

My experience with Waste Management has always been very good. I have no complaints.

Their reasons for asking for a rate increase are understandable, and I agree that 15% approved by our City Council is appropriate.

Thank you.

Trash Increase

It’s a shame that we allow a price increase per City Council and less service. I regularly call them on my service of no pickup.

And last week, they had so many calls that voice mail stayed full. It took 4 days to pick up the trash in our area.

Sorry, this is one person who will not renew. This decision for more money made my decision.
