VERO BEACH – Frank Heisler, 69, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 27, 2018, while being treated for Stem Cell Transplant at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C.
He suffered a long and courageous battle with Lymphoma.
He was born to Johann Heisler and Rita Nusbaum on March 12, 1949, in Reichenbach, Germany.
Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country in Vietnam on the USS Leary.
For most of his career, Frank worked as an HVAC Technician at Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., for 28 years, until his retirement in 2007 when he relocated to Vero Beach with his wife, Gail.
Frank is predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Margaret Currie.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Finnegan Heisler; children, Scott Heisler, of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., and Heather Heisler, of Greensboro, N.C.; siblings, Gabrielle-Grosso Stead, of Tucson, Ariz., and Paul Heisler, of Virginia Beach, Va.; step-daughters, Kristen Skibicki, of Wrightstown, N.J., and Erin Coward, of South Amboy, N.J.; step-grandchildren, Alina, Zoya, Audrey, Benjamin, James, and Teddy; and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Gail Finnegan, of Raleigh, N.C.
Frank was so full of life! He was the person who, when stepping into an elevator, would say “Good morning/afternoon.” He never met a stranger.
He was an avid golfer and loved working at Vista Plantation before his illness.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to Noon at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will follow.
Interment and Military Honors will take place at a later date in William Doyle State Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J.
